Heel Pain
Heel pain is one of the most frequent foot complaints and can have numerous causes, including:
- Plantar Fasciitis: Inflammation or injury of the connective tissue running along the bottom of the foot, often resulting in pain that is worse in the morning.
- Heel Spurs: Small bony growths under the heel bone that sometimes cause pain if inflamed.
- Achilles Tendonitis: Inflammation of the Achilles tendon either at its attachment to the heel bone or slightly above it.
- Bursitis: Swelling of the natural fluid-filled sacs beneath the heel bone.
- Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome: Nerve compression that causes tingling, numbness, or burning sensations in the heel or foot.
Initial management includes RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation), but if the pain persists longer than three days or is particularly intense, seek professional care.
At Market Street Clinic, we carefully assess your heel pain and tailor a treatment plan, possibly involving Low Level Laser Therapy, exercises, orthotic devices, or footwear adjustments.
