New Equipment.
Having had considerable success in the treatment of Fungal Nails using Low Level Laser Therapy at Market Street Clinic, we have now invested in the latest device for treating fungal infections inside the shoes ( so you don’t have to throw your old shoes away ).
SteriShoe is the first device to use ultraviolet light – Ultraviolet C light (“UVC”) which has been used for decades in hospitals, dental surgeries, public swimming pools and other water treatment systems to kill germs, but has not previously been used to tackle smelly trainers.
SteriShoe 2.0 uses this technology to kill up to 99.99% of the microorganisms in shoes, using a 5W UVC lamp to expose the entire shoe interior.
Its inventors claim the average person produces up to half a pint of sweat per foot each day and that the SteriShoe kills 99.9 per cent of the micro-organisms. The device, which is made in the US, sterilises the material inside the shoes by using UV light. The light, which is invisible to the naked eye, operates at wavelengths that spark chemical reactions in germs, neutralising them and making them non-threatening.
Rainer Kuehling, of manufacturer Shoe Care Innovations, said: ‘The SteriShoe shoe is recommended by doctors as a chemical-free method to kill bacteria in shoes, reducing shoe odour and risk of infection from athlete’s foot …. The SteriShoe shoe sanitiser is clinically proven to destroy micro-organisms in shoes using ultraviolet light.’
