Onycryptosis is a very painful condition affecting all ages which can easily become infected and need antibiotics. They occur due to a spike of nail penetrating the nail sulcus. Which can be due to cutting the nails incorrectly, a damaged nail or the natural shape of the nail.

Here at Market Street Clinic we can treat onycryptosis conservatively or surgically. Conservative treatment is very affecting however requires regular treatment each time the nail grows back. Therefore some people opt to have nail surgery which is a procedure that will permanently remove the slice of nail which grows into the skin so it can not grow back to cause a problem.
