Podiatrists will benefit from new research which aims to improve knowledge and awareness of arthritis among health professionals.
Rheumatologist Professor Anthony Woolf and his team in the Royal Cornwall Hospital Bone and Joint Research Group have been awarded £50,000 from Arthritis Research UK to improve knowledge of arthritis among health professionals.
Those with arthritis tend to recieve there care out in the community rather than in the hospital and therefore there is a new to educate these health professionals in order to understand, recognise and care for people with arthritis. Professor Wolfe and his team will recruit people with arthritis throughout the South West to take part in focus groups and give their views on what health professionals need to know to improve care.
The findings will then be used to develop training for community based health professionals.
